All you need is your iPhone, a Stripe account, and the Xero Accounting app.

Privacy and security built in

Tap to Pay on iPhone uses built-in security and privacy features of iPhone. When a payment is processed, Apple doesn’t store card numbers or PIN information on iPhone or Apple servers. So merchants and customers can rest assured that their data stays theirs.

PIN transaction protection

Transactions that require PIN entry prompt a PIN entry screen. Tap to Pay on iPhone is designed to prevent all photo, video, screenshot and screen-recording features on the merchant’s iPhone, from capturing a customer’s card number or PIN information.

Accessible for everyone

For customers needing visual or other assistance, accessibility options are built into Tap to Pay on iPhone. Audible instructions guide users to draw their PIN on the screen or tap the screen to indicate a digit. Tapping once for 1, twice for 2, etc. To enter the PIN, swipe right with two fingers.

Tap to Pay on iPhone is free to set up, with no ongoing monthly or subscription fees. There is, however, a processing fee once a customer makes a payment. The fees are 2.7% + $0.15 per transaction for domestic cards, and 4.2% + $0.15 per transaction for international cards.

Tap to Pay on iPhone with the Xero Accounting app isn’t currently available for users with multiple Stripe accounts at this stage. Tap to Pay on iPhone also requires your location settings to be switched on in your mobile phone. Please turn on your location settings by visiting your phone settings.
