How to register for sales tax in New Jersey

Register your business through the New Jersey Online Business Registration portal to sign up for state taxes and get your tax ID quickly. New Jersey Online Business Registration.

  1. Gather your business information

    Gather your EIN (or SSN), formation documents, NAICS code, business address, and owner/officer info.

  2. Register via NJ division of revenue

    In the portal, complete the registration and be sure to select “Sales and Use Tax.”

  3. Receive your Tax ID and PIN

    After approval, you’ll receive your New Jersey Tax ID and PIN/access code for future filings.

Stay compliant with these filing deadlines. Your specific frequency is assigned by the Division of Taxation based on your tax liability.

Important note:
