How to register for sales tax in Massachusetts

    You will need your EIN (or SSN for sole proprietors), business start date, NAICS code, and owner/officer details.

  2. Create a MassTaxConnect account

    Visit the MassTaxConnect portal, select "Register a new business," and complete the online application.

  3. Receive your certificate

    Once approved, you will receive your Sales and Use Tax Registration Certificate. You must display this certificate.

Massachusetts sales tax filing due dates

Stay compliant with these filing deadlines. Your specific frequency is assigned by the Department of Revenue (DOR) based on your annual tax liability.
