Fees for online bill payments (powered by Melio)

What fees am I charged?

Free standard ACH bill payments are included in the Xero Early, Growing and Established pricing plans. Included payments apply to standard ACH payments in USD and excludes same day ACH, international or cross border payments. Note: If you’re part of the Xero partner program your accounting practice organization includes free standard ACH payments.

If you use other payment methods, or choose a faster delivery option, you’ll pay the fees set out below.

Please note:

  • All fees are in US dollars and exclude applicable taxes unless otherwise specified.
  • Payment fees are not eligible for subscription discounts or offers and are subject to change. Xero reserves the right to change pricing or the terms of this service at any time.
  • A bill payment means each individual bill within a payment batch, e.g. for 7 bills totalling $100 each paid to a vendor (or vendors) by credit card, the total payment fee is $20.30 (2.9% x $700).
  • Each payment is subject to eligibility requirements and limitations. If you don’t see a payment option when making a payment, it is unavailable. All payments scheduled after the cutoff time will start processing on the following business day.

When and how will I be charged fees?

You’ll be charged the payment fee at the same time you submit your bill payment in Xero, using the same funding method (e.g., bank account or card).

Melio and its international payments providers may include a margin on foreign exchange, which is a platform cost paid by you. A margin is the difference between a wholesale or mid-market exchange rate and the actual exchange rate used to convert the payment. Rates change all the time due to market movements. The conversion rate Melio provides includes conversion and service fees. Each payment’s parameters impact the fee and may vary.

To calculate your fees, you can compare our rate with the mid-market rate, which is the midpoint between the buy and sell prices of a currency. Typically, the exchange rate offered by payment providers is higher due to the markup required to cover associated costs and operations.

Any payment fees are processed by Melio in accordance with Melio’s Terms of Service and Privacy Policy and are in addition to your monthly Xero subscription fee.

Xero’s payments terms apply to your use of online bill payments. As with any other changes to our terms, changes to these fees won’t apply retrospectively and, if we make changes we’ll make every effort to let you know in accordance with our terms of use.
