Xero’s new plans are designed to provide you with easier access to the tools to help you run your business efficiently. The Starter, Standard and Premium plans are no longer sold.

Introducing the new plans
Xero has simplified the choice of plans to help ensure your needs are met well into the future. We’ve launched four new business plans and enhanced the Ultimate plan. CIS returns are still available to purchase as an add-on for all but the Xero Simple plan. Here’s the new plan line-up.
Xero Simple plan
The Xero Simple plan provides bookkeeping essentials and compliance with MTD for Income Tax for sole traders and landlords who don’t need to submit VAT returns. It includes:
- Reconciling bank transactions
- Capturing data from receipts with Hubdoc for simpler record keeping
- Sending up to Sending up to 10 invoices a month
Xero Ignite plan
The Xero Ignite plan provides accounting basics to help simplify business admin for the self-employed and businesses that are starting out. It includes:
- Reconciling bank transactions
- Capturing data from bills and receipts with Hubdoc for simpler record keeping
- Sending up to 20 invoices and entering up to 10 bills a month
- Bill payments (GBP only), £0.20 per bill payment excluding VAT
- Submitting VAT returns to HMRC
- Managing payroll (optional), £1.50 per person per month excluding VAT
Xero Grow plan
The Xero Grow plan offers streamlined accounting tools to help automate admin for self-employed and growing businesses. It includes:
- Expenses for one person a month
- Payroll for one person a month, plus pay additional people for £1.50 per person per month excluding VAT
- Up to five bill payments (GBP only) per month, + £0.20 per additional bill payment excluding VAT
Xero Comprehensive plan
The Xero Comprehensive plan includes streamlined accounting and payroll for businesses with employees so they have the info they need to help make confident decisions. It includes:
- Expenses for up to five people a month
- Payroll for five people a month, plus pay additional people for £1.50 per person per month excluding VAT
- Multi-currency
- Advanced cash flow predictions (Analytics Plus)
- Up to 10 bill payments (GBP only) per month, + £0.20 per additional bill payment excluding VAT
Xero Ultimate plan
The Xero Ultimate plan includes accounting, payroll and forecasting tools for businesses with employees or those who want a plan that includes useful features to scale for future growth.
- It now includes expenses and projects for up to ten people
- It now includes payroll for ten people, plus pay additional people for £1 per person per month excluding VAT
- It includes up to 15 bill payments (GBP only) per month, + £0.20 per additional bill payment excluding VAT
- It continues to include advanced cash flow predictions (Analytics Plus) and multi-currency
Phased move to new plans
We’ll move subscribers who haven’t already moved to a new plan in phases, taking into account their current plan and add-ons. View the latest on migration plans on the blog.

If you want to upgrade or downgrade a plan, or add or remove an add-on, you'll need to choose one of the new plans. If you transfer a subscription, the new subscriber will need to choose one of the new plans.
View plansAdding employees to Xero Payroll, Expenses or Projects on old plans
If you have the payroll, expenses or projects add-on attached to your old plan and need to add additional users, you can do so and remain on the old plan until Xero moves you; additional usage charges will continue to apply.

Instead of needing to subscribe to add-ons to access key features like managing expenses (Xero Expenses), tracking project financials (Xero Projects) and unlocking insights (Analytics Plus), they are bundled into plans.

The data will be archived, so if you need access to it, you can upgrade to a plan that includes that functionality. As an example, if you wish to retain or restore access to Xero Projects data, you’ll need to subscribe to the Ultimate plan, where Xero Projects is included. Note that we highly recommend you download add-on data before moving plans.
