Fees for online bill payments (powered by BILL)

This page outlines the payment fees charged to Xero customers who use online bill payments in Xero. If you are located in the United States and set up online bill payments, powered by BILL, Xero’s payments terms apply to you.

The payment fees outlined below are based on usage of online bill payments, and are in addition to your Xero monthly subscription fee, and subject to change.

As with any other changes to our terms, changes to these fees won’t apply retrospectively and, if we make changes we’ll make every effort to let you know in accordance with our terms of use.

What fees am I charged?

You may incur fees for your use of online bill payments, as set out in the table below. All fees are in US dollars and exclude applicable taxes unless otherwise specified.

For payments by bank account, the fee will vary depending on the disbursement method chosen by the vendor as set out in the table below. This means the fee will be determined after the payment is processed based upon the vendor’s disbursement method, and the fees displayed at the time a payment is made may be subject to change if the vendor updates their disbursement method in BILLᵀᴹ. For example, if a payment by bank account is pending, and the vendor updates their payment preferences in BILL from ACH/ePayment to Check, the fee will be increased from $0.49 to $1.69.

A bill payment means each individual bill within a payment batch, e.g. for 7 bills paid to a vendor (or vendors) by ACH the total payment fee is $3.43 ($0.49 x 7 bills).

When and how will I be charged fees?

The timing and method for collecting payment fees will vary depending on your bill payment method.

If you pay bills using your:

  • Bank account: fees will be charged monthly in arrears by automatically debiting the bank account you have authorized. You will receive an email confirming the amount you will be charged 10 days before the scheduled payment date. Once a fee has been incurred, you can also find it in the statement in the “Bills” list view.

Payment fees are processed by BILL in accordance with BILL’s General Terms of Service.
