Edwin Gonzalez

Manager, AICPA Foundation
Edwin manages several AICPA Foundation scholarships and engagement programs to attract, educate, and encourage students to pursue CPA licensure and support current CPAs pursuing accounting doctoral programs. He has several years of experience in higher education administration and student services with an emphasis on student financial aid. Edwin lives in Apex, NC, and frequently volunteers for Hire Heroes USA and Habitat for Humanity. Edwin earned a BBA from CUNY Baruch College and an MBA from North Carolina State University.

Emma is a leader at ConnectCPA; a large Canadian-based cloud accounting firms, where she oversees the Data, Bookkeeping, Payroll, Accounts Payable, Controllership, Technology, and Onboarding departments. With a team of over 125 staff, she manages the firm’s tech stack and vendor relationships, driving innovation through process optimization and automation. Emma is passionate about helping clients scale through modern, efficient systems and leads key initiatives that streamline internal operations and enhance service delivery.
Gail Perry

Editor-in-Chief, CPA Practice Advisor Magazine
Gail Perry is a CPA and the editor-in-chief of CPA Practice Advisor magazine. She is also a well-known public speaker and is the author of more than 30 books (including Mint.com For Dummies and Surviving Financial Downsizing: A Practical Guide to Living Well on Less Money). In addition, she maintains a small tax practice. Gail is a graduate of Indiana University where she earned her bachelor's degree in journalism. After returning to school to study accounting at Illinois State University, Gail earned her CPA and worked for Deloitte's Chicago office as a state and local tax specialist. She is a former tax columnist for the Indianapolis Star newspaper, has been an adjunct professor teaching introductory accounting and personal finance, and spent 10 years as a computer applications instructor at the Indiana CPA Society. Gail was the publisher and editor-in-chief of AccountingWEB before joining the CPA Practice Advisor team.
Heather Day Satterley

Director of Education and Media at Woodard
Heather Satterley is Director of Education and Media at Woodard, a company dedicated to empowering accounting professionals. With a background in public accounting, her career has been shaped by a passion for technology and a commitment to helping others. She focuses on designing and automating business processes to help businesses improve efficiency and streamline operations.
A strong believer in the power of community, Heather's leadership style emphasizes collaboration and collective growth. She co-hosts The Appy Hour with Liz and Heather, a webinar series that simplifies the complex world of technology and apps in accounting. This platform allows Heather to share valuable insights that elevate professionals in her field.
Heather also co-created Appy Hour Camp, a retreat aimed at fostering connections between accounting educators and software developers. Her contributions to the profession have been recognized, including being named a top 10 ProAdvisor in 2017 and 2019 and a spot on Accounting Today’s list of top influential people in 2019.
A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and holder of a Master's in Innovation from Northeastern University, Heather advocates for no-code automation, a tool central to her mission of boosting efficiency and growth in accounting firms. Through her work, Heather continues to inspire change and drive innovation within the accounting profession.
Randy Johnson

Executive Vice President, K2 Enterprises
Randolph P. (Randy) Johnston, MCS, has been a leading authentic and genuine authority in technology for over 40 years. Inducted into the Accounting Hall of Fame in 2011, he has remained a Top 25 Thought Leader in Accounting from 2011 through 2024. His continued influence in the profession is highlighted by his recognition in the 2024 Accounting Today Top 100 Most Influential People in Accounting—his twenty-first consecutive year on that list. In addition, Randy authors a monthly column and hosts a weekly podcast for The CPA Practice Advisor, contributes to the Journal of Accountancy, writes for various accounting and technology publications, and has published numerous books.
He has founded and still owns multiple ventures, including K2 Enterprises in Hammond, Louisiana, and Network Management Group, Inc. (NMGI) in Hutchinson, Kansas. For four decades, NMGI has provided services to CPA firms and has been the largest managed service provider for the CPA profession in North America. Randy’s wife, four children, and seven grandchildren share his passions for theater, music, travel, golf, skiing, snorkeling, and model trains. His background as a college instructor, management and technology consultant, and advisor to the accounting community informs today’s presentation.
