I’ve been at Xero for nine years, across four functions and three cities. Moving from New Zealand to Toronto, it was clear that Xero’s mission, values and culture had no borders. It’s uncommon to find a global company that takes such care to ensure that each region is built around the foundations of what makes Xero, Xero.

What we’re doing with data at Xero right now is building the playbook and establishing patterns, and it’s exciting that our scientists and engineers are influential in how that happens. I’m working with brilliant teammates to solve some seriously hard machine-learning problems, and having impact and influence in shaping the overall journey.  Recently, I’ve moved back to where I grew up — an hour’s drive outside Toronto — so it’s especially awesome that remote working lets me pursue the career I love whilst also being close to family and friends. It’s part of our #human culture. I feel empowered to make my job complementary to how I live my life, rather than fitting my life around my work.

The biggest thing for me about Xero’s culture is the positivity, support and encouragement of everyone. It’s just a phenomenally nice place to be. People aren’t shy about being themselves here, which I think is really, really important. How can you do your best work when you don’t feel like you can be yourself? It’s nice to be in a place where that is encouraged and supported the way it is. It’s just so Xero.
