Refer a friend program FAQs

You will be eligible to receive a monthly commission payment for each Referred Subscriber. A “Referred Subscriber” is a small, non-accounting or bookkeeping business that (a) is confirmed by Xero to not be an existing or previous subscriber to Xero’s services; (b) uses your Referral Link to sign up to a paying a Business Edition subscription to Xero’s services; and (c) within 30 days of signing up, purchases a paying Business Edition . You’ll be eligible to receive commissions for up to 12 months for each Referred Subscriber, or until they stop being a paying subscriber to Xero’s services, whichever happens first. You are only eligible to earn commission payments on a total of 10 Referred Subscribers.

For each Referred Subscriber, you’ll be eligible to receive a monthly commission equal to 30% of that Referred Subscriber’s net subscription price. The “net subscription price” is the then-current list price for the Referred Subscriber’s Xero subscription, minus any discounts they receive. This means your commission is calculated on the actual amount the Referred Subscriber pays to Xero for their subscription each month. For example, if your referred subscriber's Xero subscription costs $47.00 but they receive a 90% discount for the first six months, their net subscription price during that time would be $4.70, and your commission would be $1.41 per month for those six months. Your commission will then be $14.10 for the remaining six months unless they make any changes to their subscription.

Xero’s Refer a Friend Program is powered by PartnerStack Inc. (PartnerStack), a specialist customer referral platform that gives you, Xero customers, the tools and resources you need to promote Xero and rewards you for it! In order to receive commissions, you’ll need to register and create an account with PartnerStack, and accept the Xero Refer a Friend Agreement and Partnerstack’s Terms of Service and enter into any agreement(s) as required by PartnerStack.

Xero subscribers, as well as Xero users who are invited into a Xero organization or partner account (not just the subscriber) are eligible to become a Xero referrer. At this stage the program is not available to Xero Accountant and Bookkeepers part of the partner program. You can find your Referral Link via the ‘Summary’ or ‘Links’ page within your PartnerStack dashboard. If you’ve created a PartnerStack account but are having trouble, please email support@partnerstack.com for assistance.

Any messaging platform of your choice – including by post! Please note, we only accept and record referrals sent to us through your Referral Link. You can only earn commission when referees sign up through your Referral Link. Please refer to the Xero Refer a Friend Agreement for terms and conditions on marketing the Referral Link.

Use your Referral Link to sign up to a Xero subscription (Your unique referral link will look like https://refer.xero.com/xxx) Your referee must have cookies enabled when signing up via the Referral Link to ensure the sign-up is attributed to your Referral Link.

No, we only accept and record referrals that are sent to us through your Referral Link.

By default - your rewards will show in USD. If you prefer to withdraw your commissions in a currency other than USD you can update this in your account settings. Available currency options are USD, GBP, CAD, EUR, AUD, and NZD. Changing your account currency in-app eliminates the need to manually convert currencies displayed in-app. To change your preferred currency Log into your PartnerStack account. Click on your initial in the top right-hand corner of your dashboard. Click "My Profile" from the drop-down list that appears. Scroll down to the "Preferred currency" section. Select your preferred currency and click "Save".

There are a few reasons you may not see a referral in your PartnerStack account. The main reason is that your Referred Subscriber information hasn’t yet flowed from Xero into the PartnerStack platform (this can take up to seven days). You will be notified via email when you are eligible for your commission payment. This can take up to two months following your Referred Subscriber’s first payment milestone. Once the commission has been successfully redeemed and paid out to you, it will show as ‘Earned’. Please see more information on PartnerStack’s Help Centre here.

Once your commissions are available for withdrawal, you will receive an email notification from PartnerStack. You can withdraw commissions with an "available" status following these steps: Log in to your account. Select "Commissions" in the top menu bar. Confirm that your connected payout provider (Stripe, PayPal or direct deposit) is accurate. Click "Withdraw funds". You have the option of letting your commissions accumulate or cash out right away. You will receive the reward for every successful referral, into the bank account information you provide via the PartnerStack dashboard. Important: Commissions are paid out via PayPal, Stripe , or Direct Deposit (available for 29 countries). Before cashing out, make sure you have the correct payment provider linked in your Commissions tab. Note: PartnerStack will not store any of your banking information. Commissions last as long as you remain a PartnerStack account holder under Xero’s Refer a Friend program – meaning you can ‘cash out’ your commissions at a time of your choosing.

No, you will not be charged any fees by Xero or PartnerStack. However, if you choose to withdraw in another currency other than USD local currency, this will be subject to any currency conversion fees imposed by your bank.
