Xero is an online accounting system designed specifically for small business. The company was started in 2006, listed on the NZ Stock Exchange (NZX) in June, 2007 and listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) in November 2012. Xero's stock ticker is XRO on both exchanges.

Investing outside of New Zealand and Australia
If you are a resident outside of New Zealand and Australia and want to invest in Xero, note that Xero shares can generally only be purchased through an NZX or ASX registered share broker. However, you can contact your local share broker to see if they have a relationship with an NZX or ASX registered broker. In the US, Schwab have traded in Xero shares previously.

Funding:
Xero has raised more than NZ$145 million in funding. This includes $15m at its IP0 and subsequent placements involving MYOB co-founder Craig Winkler, Paypal founder and first Facebook external investor Peter Thiel, and Matrix Capital Management.
Xero is a member of the NZX50 and, as at March 2012, has a market capitalisation in excess of $1 billion.
