The astronaut capturing the imagination of the nation
Speaker: Major Tim Peake CMG, European Space Agency astronaut
Renowned astronaut Major Tim Peake CMG became the first British ESA astronaut to go to the International Space Station. Orbiting 400km away, Tim used technology to stay connected with Earth – tweeting the Queen from space and even reading bedtime stories that were broadcast to over two million children. Tim’s journey captured the imagination of the nation, and crucially, the next generation. In this talk, Tim will discuss the importance of inspiring greater interest and understanding of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) as well as space.
