"It has made me a better performing director. Before Xero I wasn’t in touch with the financial side of the business, now I am completely connected."
Julie Clark, Floriditas
Floriditas is a cafe, restaurant, and bakery in the heart of Wellington, New Zealand. Well known for their delicious baked goods, they make all their own bread, cakes, and other sweet treats.
Before Xero, Floriditas used Cash Manager as their accounting software. Cash Manager ran on their server, so they had to export files to share their numbers with directors, the accounts person and their accountant.
“It was like having your data locked in a filing cabinet”.
Time to switch
Xero was first recommended by their accountant, Curtis McLean. It suited their needs because it worked on any device and they could access their data from anywhere.
The end of the financial year was the perfect time to switch accounting software because of all the work that needs to be done at that time - the one off calculations such as depreciation, and reconciling all the transactions for the year.
“We could round off the year with accounting software we knew how to use, then have a year to learn a new system before tackling the end of financial year accounts and finalising tax”.
Their accountant helped them get setup and answered any questions they had along the way.
“Early on I tweeted Xero and asked if they could put us in touch with another business using Xero so we could air out any questions first. This session was great to understand how we could use Xero and gave us an overview to feel comfortable that it would do what we needed it to”.
Two years on
Two years on and they are still happy with Xero, it does everything that they need it to, even as their business has changed over time.
“It has made me a better performing director. Before Xero I wasn’t in touch with the financial side of the business, now I am completely connected”.
