A proactive approach to supporting clients, whether in tackling the challenges of the past 12 months or preparing for future changes, has helped Dorset-based CBA Services grow their client base — and take home this award. As judge Emma Jones, founder of Enterprise Nation, explains: “In this past year small businesses have really needed their trusted advisor and I was looking for how bookkeepers and accountants have stepped up and helped their clients. CBA Services are a really good example of that.”

The firm has made the most of Xero products to aid clients during the pandemic, from using the Covid-19 Business Insights Pack and Business Loans Pack to assess individual situations and assist with government support schemes, to utilising GoCardless to ensure invoices are paid promptly and cash flow is protected. Glen Foster, Xero Sales Director (UK & EMEA), liked the use of Xero’s Short-term Cash Flow and Business Snapshot features, along with business performance reports, to give clients clarity on how best to navigate their way through Covid. “They had everything covered,” he said. 

The firm is also looking ahead and planning for the introduction of Making Tax Digital for income tax in two years time — something judge John Coldicutt, Xero Marketing Director (UK & EMEA) was impressed with. “It shows how forward thinking they are,” he said. “They seem very restless in their quest for being on top of things, which is really good to see.”
