Large Firm of the Year
While a large company, UHY Hacker Young stood out for being an agile business that quickly found new ways to engage with clients when it was needed most. They had several innovative responses to the pandemic, including partnering with a law firm to advise clients on available support schemes and linking Xero with third-party app Fluidly to create cash-flow forecasts and a future proofing plan for each business. “I was really impressed with the What if? scenario planning to help businesses think through potential outcomes and how they can pivot to keep earning money,” said John Coldicutt, Xero Marketing Director (UK & EMEA).
The firm addressed new ways of working, implementing Xero Expenses for clients who moved to remote working to allow them to efficiently track and manage their expenses. Using Xero features to create management packs helped clients understand their business on a deeper level. Judge Penny Power, founder of Business is Personal, also appreciated their relationship with challenger banks, saying: “The young entrepreneurs that I coach are all leaning that way and any accountant that's not able to understand that is going to get left behind.”
The judges also singled out the firm’s social media and marketing strategies, as well as their commitment to championing cloud accounting, from migrating 350 clients to Xero to training other branches and creating video and blog content. “You could feel the knowledge sharing in their corporate culture really strongly,” said Power.
