How to get started with payroll (US)
Xero has all the tools you need to process payroll, manage time off, enter timesheets, and submit tax payments and filings electronically.
Employees can submit time off requests, and view payslips from their secure online portal.
It’s seamless online accounting and payroll with no software or tax updates to download or install.
Setting up is easy. Xero will walk you through it - just follow the prompts. You’ll set up your company details, pay schedules, employees, taxes, and the payroll accounts to be used.
Staff can be invited into the Employee Portal. Where they can access their payroll information, submit timesheets, and request time off at any time.
If you’ve given them permission, they can also approve other employees’ time off and timesheets, without seeing the rest of the financials.
Payroll administrators have a complete view of time off and timesheets and can follow up with approving managers, or approve any pending items themselves.
In just a few clicks you can pay employees while making any needed adjustments to the payrun. Even set up Direct Deposit to pay employees electronically through Xero.
Once the payrun is posted, your accounts are automatically updated.
The Overview tab gives a summary of your key payroll figures and dates, along with current payruns, time off awaiting approval, tax filings due and timesheets to approve.
