Xerocon Day 2
Thu 14 September 2017
Magda Szubanski, writer, actor and comedian
We all know Magda the comedian, we would now like to introduce Magda the author. Magda is one of Australia’s most beloved actors, having graced our screens for many years as Sharon in the sitcom Kath and Kim. She has also appeared in the award-winning film Babe and its sequel, worked alongside Robin Williams in Happy Feet, and even appeared in a national tour of Grease: The Arena Spectacular. She has received many accolades throughout her career and none more so than for her autobiography ‘Reckoning’. In the words of Peter Craven in his review published in the Australian: ‘Reckoning is a riveting, overwhelmingly poignant autobiography by a woman of genius. It is an extraordinary hymn to the tragic heroism at the heart of ordinary life and the soaring moral scrutiny of womankind. Every library should have it, every school should teach it.’
