In the month that’s been, we’ve been hard at work improving the way you do your most-important accounting tasks, helping to make your reports, invoices and contacts experience even better. Let’s dive in.

New features

Change the font size of reports in Xero HQ – Global

If you’re a practice user, you can now change the font size of your PDF reports in Xero HQ. We’ve introduced a new feature that gives you the ability to increase the font size of text blocks, tables, grids, schedules and report rows. You can select one of four font sizes and get a preview to see how it looks in the report.

Tailor your Account Transactions report – Global

Flexibility is the name of the game with our enhancements to Account Transactions reports. The changes reduce the manual work needed to pull and organise data to your liking, so you can exclude archived accounts and show opening balances on P&L accounts (as well as keep it when sorting by account code and name). It also shows accounts with no transactions in a specific period.

Search your list of bank rules – Global

Bank rules make your bank reconciliation easier. However, if you want to update, remove or simply review the rule, it can be hard finding the one you want. Now, you can search for specific bank rules so you’re able to find and manage the right one in seconds. Once set up, your bank rules automatically categorise transactions that occur on a regular basis.

View purchase orders in the Xero Accounting app – Global

When using the Xero Accounting app, you’re now able to view any purchase orders created in Xero on your desktop. Under the purchase tab, you can see everything that’s in draft, awaiting approval, approved and billed, offering you better visibility on-the-go of what you’ve purchased.

Manage payments with ease using Square + Xero – Global

A new Square + Xero integration has arrived, giving you the ability to easily reconcile Square sales in Xero, capture point-of-sale transactions, and accept Square payments on Xero invoices (where available). With the new integration being a far better experience, we’ve decided that we’ll no longer support the current one. You’ll need to switch by 30 November 2021 to make sure your data flows into Xero uninterrupted.

Offer more ways to pay with Google Pay – Global

We’ve made it even easier for your customers to pay your online invoice through Stripe. Now, when you add Stripe as an online payment service to your Xero invoice, they’ll have the option to make a payment using any credit or debit card saved to their Google Account – supported everywhere Google Pay is available.

Show or hide invoice fields based on your preferences – Global

Every business creates invoices slightly differently, so we’ve redesigned the invoice table in new invoicing to show more fields at a glance, as well as allow you to control whether fields are shown or hidden when creating or editing. This won’t change how your invoices look to customers – you can still do that by creating a template in settings.

Enjoy better visibility of your contacts in Xero – Global

With a refreshed design update that makes it easier to search for customer and supplier contact information from the list view page, this change is a first step in transforming contacts from simply an address book to a dynamic tool that gives you at-a-glance information on your customers and suppliers.

Toggle between amounts in new BAS – AU

Based on your feedback, we’ve made changes to whether unfiled amounts appear when running a report in the ‘new’ BAS, and made it easier to remove them completely. Using the new unfiled amounts toggle, you are able to remove any unfiled amounts from your BAS. When switched off, unfiled amounts from the activity statement period aren’t included in that or any future return.

Create provincial sales tax return reports — Canada

Last year, Xero brought several enhancements to GST/HST returns for Canadian subscribers. We’re now excited to announce that our Canadian customers can create provincial sales tax return reports for British Columbia (PST return), Manitoba (RST return), Saskatchewan (PST return) and Quebec (QST return), providing greater sales tax reporting coverage across Canada.
