How the Xero community has moved this partner’s firm forward

Cindy Montoya grew up in Houston, Texas where she spent summers working for her father’s small business, typing up invoices using an actual typewriter. By the time she graduated from high school, she was in charge of bookkeeping for her father’s business. In 2008, she became an Enrolled Agent, licensed by the IRS, and after working for a large CPA firm in the San Antonio area, Cindy and her daughter Kaitlyn started KAC Consulting Inc. in 2013. Through KAC Consulting, they have helped dozens of small business owners save thousands of dollars on taxes through effective tax planning and strategy. 

Cindy made the switch to Xero in 2016, and she began working closely with the local team last year. Since then, she’s been growing steadily with Xero! In fact, Cindy just signed a Business Plan, with a goal of going from 40% of her clients on Xero to 90% within 12 months. 

Cindy was quickly exposed to the Xero community when she attended events last year like the “Grow and Scale Your Practice with Xero” and the Xero Happy Hour. She gained a lot from the events and is looking forward to attending her first roadshow in a few weeks. 

Cindy shared several reasons why the Xero community has helped her firm move forward: 

Network and learn from other professionals

At Xero events, Cindy has been able to meet other accountants and bookkeepers and learn what they are doing in their firms. She loves being able to bounce ideas off of each other. For instance, at a recent Xero event she attended in March, she received some great information about pricing that helped her firm update their own pricing structure.

Each of our roadshow events feature plenty of time for networking, so make sure you join to connect with other forward-thinking bookkeepers and accountants. They can share where they are on their Xero journey and might spark other ideas or other ways you can offer more value to your clients.

At another Xero event that Cindy attended, she learned what others were using in their tech stack and was inspired to implement these ideas in her own firm.

Cindy says the Xero events she’s attended push her firm to learn, develop their craft and become more efficient in serving their clients. Being able to deliver real value to her clients is one of the main reasons she likes engaging with the Xero community.
