CIS Contractor – UK

UK construction businesses have to adhere to special tax regulations, called the Construction Industry Scheme. Every month, construction contractors have provide subcontractors with accurate statements and file monthly CIS returns to HMRC.

Last year we added features into Business Edition that automatically calculate the right amount of tax to be deducted for contractors and subcontractors.

Xero’s brand new CIS Contractor add on helps ensure contractors and their accountants can fulfil their monthly obligations in less time by submitting  returns directly from Xero to HMRC. They are also able to bulk email Payment and Deduction Statements.

Projects for iOS – Location based time entry suggestions

Xero Projects iOS app now suggests time entries for a project, based on the time spent at a particular location. As a small business, this means less time spent on manual tracking of how long you or your staff have spent on the job.

Xero Business iOS 6.18.0 – view credit notes and search invoices lists

Small businesses can now view sales credit notes in Xero Business iOS.  Keep an eye on exactly how much you’re owed and now you’ll also be able to search for invoices – making it even easier to find items when  you’re on-the-go.

Xero Expenses – easy, more flexible account selection and tax filtering

Now Xero Expenses admins can categorise expense claims to suit their needs by selecting any account from the Chart of Accounts on their desktop or mobile device. This was previously restricted to certain account types but, after listening to feedback from small businesses and advisors, we’ve removed this restriction to support those who need to categorise their claims with other account types such as liability or revenue accounts.

We’ve also updated the tax list on the expense claim form to make it easier for admins to select the right tax rate for claims.

Previously the tax list provided a fixed set of taxes, causing incorrect tax rate selection for certain account types. Now the  tax options presented will be filtered based on the chosen account for the claim.

Payroll Update

Direct Integration with The People’s Pension – UK

Small businesses and advisors have two direct integrations with workplace pension providers in the UK, the most recent addition – The People’s Pension, and the existing NEST integration. These direct integrations allow you to connect to your provider, receive updates, and submit your pension filings quickly and accurately, saving you time and reducing submission errors.

Create fixed priced tasks in Projects

Small businesses can set a fixed price when they create a task in Projects. Time can be entered to these tasks to keep track of costs, but the task is invoiced at the fixed price.
