Welcome to Humans of Xero! It’s an occasional series about some of the awesome humans that work at Xero. We’ll talk a bit about their work, their passions, some fascinating facts, and what makes them tick.
We’d like to introduce you to Saloni, a Developer based in Melbourne. We had a chat to her about life in and out of Xero.
It’s not everyday you give birth to your first born and receive a job offer from your company of choice, but that’s exactly what happened to Saloni Tulsiyan on September 18, 2017. ‘I wanted somewhere that had strong core values that were actually lived each day’.
Tell us about your role at Xero?
I’m a Graduate Developer and get to work directly on the Xero product. I’ve had the chance to rotate through several pods which has been an amazing learning experience and I’ve really felt like the work I do is a part of the bigger picture. One of the best parts about working at Xero is the individualised attention and support I get from my managers and colleagues. This support along with the career opportunities and growth are what makes me want to stay at Xero and help build #beautiful software.
Why did you decide to join Xero?
I was searching for a role where I’d be able work as a team and contribute to a greater goal, grow my skills, and thrive as a developer. I also wanted somewhere that had strong core values that were actually lived each day. In chatting to people through the interview process I just knew that Xero was the place for me. I was particularly impressed that Xero is not only a growing global business but it has an amazing culture that puts its people first.
What’s it like working at Xero?
As a new developer, I’m given the guidance and support I need to grow and develop in my role. I feel valued and part of a team and in turn I aim to never let them down. Working at Xero is so much more than a 9 to 5 job. I wake up everyday feeling really lucky to work for a company that trusts in me and I get the chance to learn from truly inspiring people.
Tell us something #human about yourself?
My husband and I love to cook. We search for new and interesting recipes and try new techniques and cuisines together. I don’t mean to not sound humble but we make some delicious stuff – our recent puff pastry was a hit!
