Xero HQ, the successor to My Xero Partner Edition, will be available to all our accounting and bookkeeping partners for opt-in from late November. For more information on the full feature set, refer to our announcement blog here and the blogs on the activity feedexplorer and client management features. In this blog we take a look at the Advisor Directory listing setup feature.

Now you can promote your business through the all new Xero Advisor DirectoryThe enhanced directory will help connect Xero-certified partners with small businesses searching for an advisor, enabling both to maximise growth. Now it’s easier for small businesses to find the right advisor for them – whether that’s based on industry or app expertise, or where they do business – and for you to promote your practice to the right potential clients.

You’re in complete control

The first thing you’ll notice is that the management of your listing has moved from Practice Settings in My Xero Partner Edition to a purpose-built experience within Xero HQ. From here you can edit and customise your profile at any time. Add or change your description, contact details, social media links, industry associations and promotional video (for Xero Champions) any time you need. Hints will appear while you’re setting up your listing making the process quick and easy.

Using the preview function, you also have the ability to see what your listing will look like before it is published so you can tweak your details as you go.

Choose how you display your office location

Previously partners have only been able to display a single office location. Now, we support having multiple office locations as well as having no public office (for those of you that work remotely) so that your business can be discovered in all the locations that it operates.

Show Xero-certified staff members on your listing

We might be in the numbers game, but ultimately it all comes down to people. Adding the Xero-certified staff members in your practice to your listing provides a human touch showcasing who your clients will work with and allowing you to create stronger and more valuable business relationships with your clients.

All of your Xero-certified staff members can also be featured on your listing with their profile information edited directly from within their individual profile settings. The more staff you show, the more likely new clients will pick your firm to be their advisor.

Be represented in the industries and apps you know

Nearly every time we asked people what they wanted most in an advisor, they said “we want someone that knows our industry and has clients just like us.” Now, with the new Xero Advisor Directory, the best way to be selected by prospective clients is to be certain to set the industries of your existing clients.

Industry expertise is derived by the industries of your clients in Xero. Quickly add an industry code for a client with the new Explorer feature in Xero HQ to ensure that you’re properly represented within the industries you work. Additionally apps are showcased based on what your existing clients use with these displaying automatically on your listing.

Give yourself the competitive edge

Partners with Xero champion status now have the opportunity to set their practice apart from the rest with by embedding a promotional video within their listing directly from Youtube or Vimeo.

Get your listing ready

When Xero HQ launches at the end of this month practice administrators and principals will be able to access the new Advisor Directory setup from within the Practice tab.

Take the time to get your listing updated to ensure you’re showcasing everything your practice can offer when the Advisor Directory launches to the public the following week.

What about if you have expertise in a sector but don’t currently have a client in that sector?

@Debbie, advisor like yourself are organising client events to encourage their existing clients to start using Xero. This is a great way to set yourself to be found by people searching for advisors experienced it their industry and using Xero. If you do not have existing clients in the industry that you are have rich experience, then the fastest way to win new clients is to leverage your social network of people in your target industry that you have worked with or provided other services to. A few outreach messages to your old colleagues, acquaintances and clients could easily stir up some new clients for you.
