Doing your timesheets can be a time consuming task. But now they’re a breeze with the long-anticipated addition of Timesheets to Xero Me.
It’s another big step towards bringing payroll out of the back office – and we’re really excited to have made it happen for Xero Australia.
Xero Me creates more time for you
Timesheets in Xero Me allows staff to enter their own hours and submit them for approval. Even better, they can do it during downtime or while they’re on their way to work. It turns doing your timesheet into a simple task. It’s also a great timesaver for administrators.
Once done, the approved timesheet is automatically passed into the relevant pay run for processing.
It’s fast – and it’s easy
Creating timesheets with Xero Me can be done in just a few simple clicks:
- Navigate to timesheets section and click on the “+” sign (or select a timesheet already in progress).
- Once you’re in the details screen, tap on the day you’d like to add time to. Provide the number of hours worked, the type (eg. regular, overtime), and save.
- Once you’ve filled out your timesheet with all the time entries, click submit and voila! You’re done.
When your timesheet gets approved and processed, you can see the details in the timesheet list view.
Haven’t tried Xero Me yet? The simple, easy to use app allows employees to view their details, apply for time off and view their payslips – and now, do their timesheets – from anywhere.
Let us know what you think
We’re always keen to hear your thoughts on how we could make timesheets and Xero Me even more efficient for your business. Send your feedback to samyak.shah@xero.com.
Xero Me is available free from the Apple and Google App stores.
Congratulations guys! That’s great news for employees in small businesses with simple timesheets 🙂
A sneaky plug if I may – for businesses with more than 15 staff where administration of timesheets is still an issue (eg. for chasing people up, or making sure overtime is correct), there’s plenty of add-ons available in the space – would recommend checking out http://www.tanda.co
Once submitted can the timesheet be editted by the administrator yet?
I’m not sure if this has yet been enabled – but until it happens timesheets are not something I would encourage a business owner to use – as the time to fix up a time sheet – can be long and delay the pay run. Anything that delays the pay run is a major stress
Hi Heather,
The timesheets can be edited by the payroll admin via Web after they are submitted for approval.
I came in here to ask exactly the same thing! And I agree, unless the timesheet can be edited, I won’t be recommending it to my clients?
Hi Penny,
Once timeshares are submitted for approval, they can be edited by Payroll admin via web. Payroll admin feature is not available in Xero Me yet.
Cheers
This does not appear to be the case. i have set up a trial employee (time worked can be entered easily – this is not really a timesheet though) however the admin (different login) cant edit the timesheet.
Any update on when the app will work with 2 Factor Authentication (I just get an error) or allow payroll admins to use the app?
We are currently working on supporting 2FA but there is a workaround for it for now.
For the first time, you have to disable 2FA then log in the app, set your pin then enable 2FA. Once you have PIN set, this will act as your 2FA for the app and for web login it will work as it has been. Hope that helps.
Hi
I just tested it out.
Ordinary Hours I have a line for every day instead of a line for the week
Hey Leah!
Thanks for downloading Xero Me and giving it a try.
Good eye on finding the issue, we just fixed it! It will create one line per Ordinary hours for your next timesheet! Let us know if we can improve anything else.
Cheers,
Does this work with Practice Manager / workflowmax timesheets or is there a separate app for that?
Sounds great, but any idea when you will be getting these apps for Windows phones?
Hi Penny,
Unfortunately, We currently do not have any plans to support this for Windows phone. If anything changes, we will let you know.
Can we remember our email address save putting it in every time. This is on my P.C. my phone is ancient.
Hey Harold,
Thank you for downloading the Xero Me app and giving it a try. Saving your email address on the login screen is on our roadmap. Look out for it in our future releases.
Cheers,
i sent an invite to a team member and they deleted the email i am unable to send the invite again as it says already done
It would seem that there is no way for staff to add the start or finish times for the day, just the amount of hours worked.
As a trade based business where people start at different times of the day this is an important piece of the payroll process for us. Is there any way that this can be done?
I would also like staff to be able to put in start and finish times and breaks…. much easier to keep an eye on than just total hours for the day. Tried deputy, but was not user friendly. Thanks.
Hi Dale, might be worth giving Toggl a try, we’ve used that successfully for a few years. For our part I’m looking forward to using Xero Me as we mainly use it for casuals during normal work hours – time of day isn’t important to us, just the number of hours worked.
Hi how do employees set up an email address and password that then links to my payroll so I can pay them – I can’t find any detailed nformation ofn the setup side of things. I would love to do this at work but don’t know how
Hello,
We are also a trade based business and we need our field staff to record their time sheets in a specific way. Is this something that could be looked at?
e.g.
10/04/2016
(JOB # + ADDRESS) – 1.25HRS
(JOB # + ADDRESS) – 4.50HRS
DAILY TOTAL – 5.75 HRS
11/04/2016
(JOB # + ADDRESS) – 2HRS
(JOB # + ADDRESS) – 3HRS
DAILY TOTAL – 5HRS
WEEKLY TOTAL – 10.75HRS
Thanks 🙂
HI
Great that Xero continues these system improvements _ can I also suggest a couple of extras that would be most beneficial.
– a “note section” so the employees can identify specific jobs they were working.
– to auto-fill the employees leave on the appropriate days within the timesheets
– to arrange the authorisers to be able to authorises certain group of employees.
Currently our employees fill out start time and finish time so it can be double checked easily. Is this going to be made available also instead of them having to calculate their own hours. Would make approval much quicker. And better details kept for storage.
Awesome. As with the trades commented above, we also need to break down the day into different time slots for different job sites. Great start thought guys! Brill!
In addition to my comment above, if it could also have a tab for “job description” within the timesheet, that would allow us to totally get rid of paper all together! Exciting thought! Woo!
Working in the construction Industry, we would prefer a process that stated the starting and finishing times rather than ‘8 hours’ of ordinary pay etc. If you could develop this, that would be great. Until then, unfortunately we will be sticking with the paper trail.
Thank you
Hi Ive downloaded the app on my phone. It says payroll support for xero me is almost here. can you tell me when i should be able to access it?
Thanks
Emma
Hi is there a way that their hours can be autopopulated for standard from their file card and the employee makes changes if necessary?
