Xero API Developers of the year for 2013

In internet years, 2009 is ancient history. Household names like Instagram and Pinterest were yet to be founded, and cloud trailblazers like Xero were boasting rapid customer signups. In 2009, at the end of the financial year, Xero had 6,000 customers – less than 3% of our current customer base.

So, it took a little bit of guts in those early days for Nik Wakelin, Jared Armstrong and James Nisbet to go off and create one of the first true standalone Xero Add-ons. They were looking to solve the pain point they experienced as contract software developers – tracking time in Xero.

Out of their need to track & bill time, MinuteDock was born, and continues today to be one of our most popular, and highly rated Xero Add-ons.

In addition to their contribution to the Add-on ecosystem, Nik, James & Jared have been an invaluable help to the Xero API. In the early days they were feeding back on issues they were experiencing as developers, and writing code samples for other Ruby on Rails developers through the xero_gateway wrapper. For almost five years now, Nik in particular, has been a constant maintainer and contributor to the project. Software can only be improved if it has users giving feedback, and users of the Xero API software like these guys has resulted in a much better developer experience for everyone accessing our API.

It is a real pleasure to recognise and congratulate Nik, James & Jared as our Xero API Developers of the year for 2013.

On behalf of all at Xero, and all the developers that are using the Xero API, thanks guys.

Congrats to the @MinuteDock team, I love your product, it improves productivity and captures potentially lost billing, and recommend it to anyone who time bills.
