Planes, trains and automobiles: Xero US team on the road

Today, Xero employees are traveling across the US to bring Xero to the backyards of US accounting professionals. Personally, I’m out at Accounting Today’s Growth & Profitability Summit and looking forward to speaking this afternoon about the virtues of the cloud and how Xero can help you take your small business clients and your accounting practice to the next level.

Today also marks day 1 of the Xero US Roadshow and, from our counterparts in Australia, week 2 of the Xero AU Roadshow for our accounting Partners or anyone interested in becoming a Xero Partner. We’re specifically kicking off in Baltimore, MD and Seattle, WA. Registrations have been phenomenal and we’re looking forward to meeting both existing Partners and those interested in Xero, face-to-face at 20 cities across the US over the next month.

As a special contest of the Xero Roadshows here in the US, we’re having weekly giveaways (until November 22) of a Google Nexus 7 Tablet for the person who submits the best small business tip of the week (picked by a panel of Xero employees). Keep an eye out at your Roadshow venue for colored tip cards and the big jar to pop your entry in.

We’ll also be raffling a $50 gift card each week for the tips not selected for tip of the week. No limit to the number of entries. Don’t stress if you’re not in the US and or unable to attend the Roadshow, it’s available to all as long as it’s a tip that can help small businesses – submit yours on our Google+ page! See tweets from the Roadshows in the US and Australia by following #xeroroadshow on Strea_ma.

The Xero US team is also attending many conferences and special events over the next few months. If you can’t make the Roadshow, check us out at one of these events:

Accounting Solutions Conference

This year will be a special event with Rod Drury (our CEO) taking the stage at The Sleeter Group’s Accounting Solutions Conference to talk about the future of cloud accounting. In addition, there’s a special track the day prior to the conference for certification. If you’d like to meet Rod and/or get certified, this is a great opportunity.

Thriving Firms Symposium & Talks

In what is my first ever Ted-style talk, I’ll be giving a 17 minute speech this Friday, October 25th about “Breaking the Binds of Accounting Tradition Before They Break You”. Check myself and the team out at the Thriving Firms Symposium & Talks in San Diego from October 23-25th.

In addition, to these, we will be attending these conferences as well:

So, if we are in your area, come out and visit us!

XPAC takes off in South Africa

Last week, I attended another great function at Truth Coffee hosted by Yoco in collaboration with Digicape and Xero. A comment was made that stuck in my head most of the weekend – “Don’t waste your time with software that does not integrate.” I can not imagine what it must be like to work on ...

Why you need to be a change leader, rather than a change manager

Accounting professionals have moved on from the question “why cloud?” to asking how they can use the cloud to move forward in the current accounting landscape. CEO and Executive Director of the Maryland Association of CPAs, Tom Hood, recently told AccountingWEB how accountants should not just “manage” change but “lead” it, while still keeping sight ...
