It’s wonderful to hear stories from around the world about how accountants are using Xero to reinvent and redesign their businesses. Most recently HAS Business Solutions in the desert oasis of Alice Springs, Australia has become our first Gold Partner in the Northern Territory through their incredible growth in number of clients, to over 100 in 12 months. HAS talks to us about the benefits of real-time accounting.

HAS have really tapped into the benefits of the “single ledger” shared data between the accountant and client, enabling them to help their clients in real time. Damian McGrath, CPA and Accounting Services Manager, tells us the practice maintains a big focus on business development work.

“We help our clients with their business growth, identify cashflow problems and strengths and we do this in real-time, because we use Xero. We’ve proven you don’t have to be in a big city to have first-class accounting software”.

Located in the centre of Australia, Alice Springs’ desert lifestyle and scenic landscapes are an inspiration for both locals and visitors, but Damian says the drive to innovation is more aligned to other bigger and bustling cities.

With a population of just over 25,186 and being in remote location, the business people of Alice Springs are very reliant on forming strong business relationships with other local businesses and there is a more concentrated effort of the town working together to achieve prosperity. Businesses work hard to provide what their customers need.

The cloud is also proving handy in the Northern Territory for those working in the outback that find it difficult to travel to town.

Being the only Gold Certified Advisor of Xero in the Northern Territory gives Xero users a reason to gravitate towards the HAS practice. They’ve now even opened an additional office in Darwin and Damian is looking at the next steps for this booming business, which he summarises as “Get more clients on to Xero!”.

Not surprised to see Marc and Tanya and the team at HAS embracing the opportunities afforded by Xero. I had the pleasure of sharing a couple of days brainstorming with Marc in Queenstown back in 2009 and he was very client centric, passionate and forward thinking. Great to read this story.
