Australian tax – activity statements pre-release

As part of our commitment to give you an online Australian tax solution, we want to make sure you’re updated when we have news to share. Since early July we’ve been running a pre-release program for business activity statements within Practice Manager. This allows activity statements to be lodged online including pre-filling information from the ATO and importing information from Xero. All designed to save you time.

Pre-release program goal for business activity statements

The goal of the program is to solicit feedback in order to produce the best product that delivers maximum results for you and your business straight away. Thirteen of our partners (it’s a good job I’m not superstitious) have been putting it through its paces, helping us find any issues and providing us with feedback so we deliver the best solution. Here are a couple of quotes from the program. And we’ve had a 100% success rate with all lodgements to the ATO.

Interactive Accounting logoWe prepare over 60 activity statements in Xero each quarter so switching to Practice Manager’s lodgement feature has been fantastic. The setup process was easy, staff training took 15 minutes and lodging via SBR is instant. I now have better visibility over the lodgement workflow and our staff love that it is just so easy!

A Squared Advisers logoXero tax is simple, efficient and intuitive to use. At A Squared we love the flow – forms built into the job workflow within Practice Manager, base information downloaded from the ATO and BAS information straight from Xero.

The feedback received has been really positive and we’re moving quickly behind the scenes to make this available to all partners as soon as possible. When we have everything in place you’ll be the first to know. I know everyone wants a date and believe when I say we want you using this as much you do.

Limiting the number of partners makes it easier for us to gather feedback for the development teams in a controlled manner whilst providing support for those involved. At this stage we are not looking for any further participants in the program as we prepare for general availability.

We’re also making great progress on the other form types so expect to see Tim Wright at Xerocon give an update on this and more. In the Your Practice in the cloud session you’ll get a close look at Practice Studio – Workpapers, Practice Manager (including Tax) and Reporting, and how they work together as one solution. You’ll like what you see.

In my blog post in May I also mentioned that online Tax File Number Declarations via Payroll is coming and it’s on track for a release in the coming weeks. News on this heading your way soon.
