eWAY – coming soon

You may have already heard about payment services in an earlier blog – it’s pretty cool. By integrating with a number of third party payment services we have made it incredibly easy for your customers to pay you. At the click of a button they can enter their payments details on any online invoice and, before you know it, the payment will be deposited into your nominated account. Dead easy.

With another release just around the corner we thought we’d give you all a heads up that on Monday 17th June we will be adding support for eWAY to Xero accounting software. eWAY is a global payment gateway allowing business owners to accept credit card payments via Xero online invoices.

eWAY and Xero logos

eWAY was started 15 years ago and their focus has been on how to make payments easy. Combine that with our beautiful accounting system and you’ve got even easier online payments!

eWAY customers in Australia, Zealand and the UK will be able to take advantage of this integration next week, which is a great compliment to the other services we’ve hooked up with – if you’re not already a customer check out their website (in New Zealand, Australia or the UK) and see if you like what they have to offer.

If you already use Xero, eWAY has a bonus reason for you to get started – two months free, no setup fee, no fee to accept American Express, and no lock in contracts. And if you are already a Xero Partner Bookkeeper or Accountant then eWAY have more reasons for you to get started. There’s a free $100 iTunes voucher (when you become an eWAY Partner) and 2 months free trial (when you register as an eWAY Merchant).

Now eWAY isn’t the only thing we’re releasing next Monday, but I won’t spoil the surprise here – come back and read all about it next week.

eWay looks great. Will give it a try. Your last sentence is exciting. I won’t jinx it by asking if the release includes what I hope it does.

eWay integration will be great. I hope the new release also finally includes Customer Sales Reporting – this has been a glaring hole for a long time.

Have you considered using one of the payment aggregation services like https://spreedly.com/? This could accelerate your time-to-market for many dozens of payment gateways and also eliminate your own PCI-compliance requirements.

Will Eway be available to US users? If so, when?

Sounds brilliant. But is there any plan to fix the biggest issue with accepting credit card payments – the ability to on charge the costs associated as part of the process?

Completely agree Troy – Charging on the costs of card payments is vital for many of my service industry clients – Please Help!

Hi guys,
Setting up with eWAY is easy – if you use CBA and eWAY, we complete all the bank forms for you – in fact you don’t even need to talk to the bank – we do the same for AMEX and Diners – easy! To sign up is an online form – http://www.eway.com.au/register/

eWAY will be available in AU, NZ and UK markets for the launch.

For the surcharge to work XERO would need to add this functionality to their online invoice payment page – the reason being we will process the amount passed to us only ie any additional fee needs to be added to the final amount before it hits the gateway.

You would need to make the surcharge very clear to the end customer to prevent confusion on the amount charged and avoid possible charge backs.

Any other questions please let us know.

Hi Matt,
What’s the cost structure. Your site just offers a free trial. What’s the structure after that. Just credit cards, or bank payments too? My invoices are usually thousands, or tens of thousands of dollars.

Hey, Great “eway integration”
How about Batch payment – eg. selecting 1 or more invoices for one payment. With also a credit % fee add to the total. Now that would be great!!!
Easy yeah!!!

Hi Matt,
Just wondering if the credit card surcharge has gone any further with XERO? :-)

Latest news on eWAY – we have just launched a new payment product that allows the business owner to add a credit card surcharge based on the card type

I still like Squareup.com better. No annual or monthly fees only per swipe. All the transaction info is at your fingertips. Also works seamlessly with Xero and has it’s own online marketplace.
