Report Packs go live in Australia

Report Packs in Xero fundamentally change the way accountants and bookkeepers work by dramatically improving how you prepare reports for clients. Today Report Packs went live for Australian Xero Partners.

Instead of the old way of creating individual reports for each client file, Report Packs takes advantage of the powerful database technology that underpins Xero. You can now build templates at the practice level and run these across large groups of clients. The efficiency of this approach is a game changer.

Our New Zealand partners have been working with us for over a year to get Report Packs humming so all that functionality is available immediately for our Australian Partners, including Report Fields and Report Schedules.

To support the launch of Report Packs in Australia we’ve created a layer of Report Codes and Special Purpose Financial Report templates for Companies, Partnerships, Sole Traders and Trusts that can be copied to create your own customised reports.

Report Packs are also great for creating beautifully customised Management Reports in a fraction of the time. Building a Management Report template to suit a particular industry, or even a specific client, means Partners can deliver huge amounts of value to their clients on an ongoing basis – not just at year-end.

If you’re an accountant or bookkeeper in Australia, make sure you get along to the roadshow for a full overview and unveiling of Report Packs as well as an update on our project to deliver online Tax filing and management.

Report Packs are heading to the UK next followed by the US. The scoping phase for both these projects are well underway so although there are no hard dates for delivery yet the turnaround time to launch this feature in new markets is getting much shorter.

Why are Report Packs important?

For the first time, on a single platform – accountants, bookkeepers and small business owner are working on the same set of information. Xero has delivered the key features of the incumbents legacy reporting making the cloud compelling for accountants.

If you’re a small business owner you’ll want your accountant using Xero. If they’re not they are spending their time moving data around and rewriting reports, not thinking about your business.

If you’re an Accountant or Bookkeeper, Xero now provides the most efficient way to work with your clients and free your time up to think about the numbers. Rather than pay for both client and accountant software Xero  eliminates the double dipping. As a Xero partner you can get accountant tools for free.

Report Packs demonstrate the power of the cloud model, where financial information is securely stored and managed and all business stakeholders work on the same information, while the accountant and bookkeeper can manage multiple client groups at the same time.

Great news for accountants, but for your primary standard user base…. meh…
Their is a laundry list of feature requests your user base is screaming for in your support forums, surely Xero is getting big enough to address these concerns sooner rather than later….

@Stuff (real names please) our number one focus is to help small businesses improve their productivity by connecting them with their accountant and bookkeeper on the one ledger. To do this we acknowledge we have a responsibility to deliver the functionality both sides require to get the job done.

We’re constantly balancing the list of requests from our small business users with projects for our accounting and bookkeeping partners like this. To give you an idea of how that’s tracking, we’ve got the top three feature requests ( due for release soon and a bunch more in the pipe. We’re 100% focussed on completing the core requirements to be a full horizontal accounting engine.

So rest assured we’re listening and appreciate the feedback from everyone who is taking the time to vote and let us know what you want.
