Providing subscriber flexibility

It’s always been possible to change the subscriber of your Xero Business account but now we’ve made it dead easy. Changing the subscriber can be required, for example, if someone is leaving an organization or if an accountant is assuming responsibility for the subscription from their client.

Previously, changing the subscriber involved contacting Xero customer support, but as part of our feature release this week we’ve made it a self-service option, which will save a lot of people a little bit of hassle each.

To initiate a change in the subscriber away from you, simply click on the organization’s Info in MyXero and select the Transfer subscription option as in these instructions, entering their name and email address.

The change is completed as soon as they have accepted the transfer and, if appropriate, confirmed billing details. You can even change the subscriber of an organization still in trial.

If necessary before completion, you can use another menu option to resend the transfer email or cancel the transfer.

Excellent! That was one of our questions and concerns a number of years ago when we considered having our subscription through our accountant.

hallelujah … still think that bookkeepers should get recognition for log-in rather than holding subscription. We want to work ‘with’ accountants more and there are many up and coming bookies that are unfortunately ‘fighting’ for the subscription with accountants just to get Xero positioning status for credibility ……
Please say this is in the pipeline or coming very very soon.

@Gayle this is in the pipeline and coming very very soon. Jest aside, we acknowledge this is important and the bookkeeper/accountant relationship is one we want to encourage and nurture. No changes on the immediate horizon but we’re looking at what we can do to acknowledge bookkeepers who don’t hold the subscription.

Great work – many thanks.

I agree with @Gayle – I understand why you have the current model – it makes business sense – however status should probably be an algorithm, not based on single piece of data.

Fantastic, saves so much time and hassle and having changed one recently using this new feature, I was very impressed at the speed at which the change took place.
