Since we announced our new global award to recognise the person that has contributed most to the Xero API developer community this year, we have been hearing about some fantastic integration projects – from Add-on developers that have built world class software that connects seamlessly to Xero, to amateur developers that have built their own custom integrations to streamline their business. The talent and imagination out there is just fantastic.
As we sifted through the names suggested to us, one kept standing out – Wayne Robinson. Wayne has been in contact with us for many years now, and his Xeroizer ruby/rails library, just approaching its second birthday, is used by over 100 applications that integrate with Xero – from Add-on partners to custom applications.
Thanks to Wayne releasing his work as an open source project, other developers that want to connect to Xero using this programming language have had a far easier time doing so.
Wayne is based on the sunny Gold Coast of Australia and has been using Ruby for over 8 years and open source for even longer. As he says himself: “In the last couple of years I’ve helped SMEs integrate a number of third-party products with Xero and have enjoyed helping them achieve greater automation day-to-day. Letting humans focus on what we are good at and letting machines handle repetitive drudgery is why I decided to develop software in the first place and it is still my major motivation today.”
Aside from the feel good factor of giving a tool to the developer community, Wayne also uses Xeroizer for his own applications that integrate with Xero. Wayne’s latest project BillDeck.com is a billing portal platform designed specifically to give SME’s the same billing tools generally only available to large corporations. With a planned launch date in Q1 2013, BillDeck provides hands-off invoice & statement distribution, payment reminder notifications and context-sensitive billing support communication in a variety of formats. BillDeck is taking contact details of people wanting to take part in an early-access beta, go to BillDeck.com to register interest.
Wayne has received the award, free Xero for a year, a ticket to the next Xerocon and a special gift to recognise his significant contribution to the Xero community.
So on behalf of Xero and all the developers out there that use Xeroizer, thanks Wayne!
