We’ve been having discussions with the team at pocket rent over the last few months and are pretty darn impressed with what they have put together.

A huge congratulations to the Pocket Rent Team from the Team @ Interactive Accounting on becoming a Xero partner!

Using this combined with Xero for my portfolio. Very impressed. Great work.

Absolutely love this idea! So do the people I’ve showed it to 🙂

Lovely interface. Great idea. A bit frustrating to use at times as it hangs and errors, but I am sure that they will work these bugs out soon enough. Looking forward it when these are ironed out.

Not sure why Xero would advertise this product as it clearly isnt ready for the market place yet. As a previous poster pointed out it has bugs and crashes and I would also add that the interface can be unintuative and poorly designed and with no help available there is little you can do but be frustrated.

I would guess that the positive comments here are from devs or owners of the company concerned.

I like the concept however and hope to use it one day – when it is ready.

@Greg and @Greg – hi Gregs – thanks for the feedback. It sounds like the PocketRent team need to follow up with you both. Certainly when we reviewed the application and integration we didn’t see those issues, nor did the pilot testers, but if you are, then that is something I am sure the PocketRent team will want to address.

Thanks for the feedback – we appreciate both good and bad on the blog!

Hi @Greg and @Greg,

Indeed Ronan is correct – we would really appreciate some specifics about the issues you experienced since we definitely would like to stop these from occuring again.

We’d love to start a discussion – please email me mark at pocketrent dot com, though I believe one of you Gregs we already have spoken with via our helpdesk?

Thanks again for trying PocketRent.

Great product PocketRent, absolutely love it. Had some initial feedback and is great the PocketRent guys are really receptive to it and are willing to incorporate it into their continually evolving product.

At @Greg and @Greg, if you are finding errors I suggest you should pass the feedback onto PocketRent directly as it seems very unusual.
As for the feedback about the other positive comments, some simple research would show you the origin of the comments. The PocketRent guys are New Zealanders!

I am a Xero user for my exhibition and publishing business (coincidentally organising Landlord and Letting Shows in the UK) and also a private landlord (one property). I would like to use Pocket Rent and would like a single login ID but do not want it to be part of my business accounts. Can this be done?

Scratch that I have just realised Pocket Rent is set up only for residential property. Mine is commercial so it is not so useful for personal use, but seems to be a good innovation. Landlords who bank with HSBC will be pleased with the bank feeds.

Hi Oliver,

Thanks for your post

There is no restriction on using the system to track and record Commercial property leases, indeed PocketRent would be very useful in managing your commercial holdings – we support generic document uploads and storage on a Tenancy/Lease basis as well as ongoing per Property for compliance certificates, etc. Our maintenance management and payment matching systems are great time savers even for long term leases over a monthly or annual basis to ensure payments are made correctly and timely.

I highly encourage you to try PocketRent for your commercial property (it’s free for life for one property) and we’d love to hear your feedback on how it works for you, especially given your experience in the sector. You will be able to choose the extent to which PocketRent integrates with your business accounts via Xero, and matching your bank feeds is a read-only operation on your account so there will not be an effect on your business accounts.

If you have any further questions please do let me know, or click the “Feedback & Support” button in the lower left of the PocketRent.

Hi I am a co owner of a portfolio of commercial properties and are considering Xero plus PocketRent over our existing integrated specialist accounting and property management software. Not sure if the Add on PocketRent can provide all of the functionality of our existing system. Interested in feedback from any commercial property users please.

@Harvey I’d be more than happy to speak to you about your requirements and how we might be able to meet and exceed them with PocketRent + Xero – if you’re already trialling PocketRent please get in touch via our Feedback and Support system or email us directly via our website

We opened a Xero account especially for Pocket rent, however limited access on trial, would have thought PR would give line by line statement for the tenant and landlord against weekly rent coming in, eg: monitor any overdue rent??

Tried to get some online support, never mind, deleted account and back to the old spreadsheet.

Don’t know what to say. Either their website crashed while I was setting things up or that is how the addon typically works – let’s hope not. Got stuck at trying to setup first property and now can’t even access their website. Who is the website only accessible via HTTPS! And about the pricing – $299 for 50 properties – I being an accountant can definitely not recommend it to my clients for that sum…

December 20, 2012 at 10.17 am

@Craig We don’t limit our free month’s trial in any way. If I recall from our discussions via our support system there was limited real data available from the Xero demo account to accurately trial PocketRent and unfortunately there’s not much we can do about that. Since we parted ways, we’ve implemented statements and reports to the effect that you’ve mentioned here – you can read about it at

@Haider We did have a brief outage while you were setting up your account so I’d be very keen to hear how set up didn’t work out and rectify for you. We use SSL because it secures your data in transit which far outweighs any downsides. As mentioned via our support discussions your clients qualify for our manager edition which has pricing suited to the yields they experience in the UK. Let’s pick up where we left off and arrange a suitable time to take you through the product and how it may suit your needs.

Sorry for the delay on posting this, though I’m happy to note that we were able to respond within an hour for both of your support requests despite our extremely disparate timezones. We do pride ourselves on this, and look forward to hearing from you again.

Now at any time, any where one can get the answer of all questions about real estate property management in few minutes.

Pocket Rent IS SLOW and next to useless unless you want to pay for Xero.
All it tells you is weather the rent is overdue or not like you wouldn’t know that.
It doesn’t keep a running total of anything useful.
Does this software actually keep track of everything else and only lets you see it when you pay for Xero?
I am at a loss at how this program is useful without Xero?

Why not a USA version yet?

Hi Jonathan,

Thanks for posting. I’d be very interested in hearing your requirements for a US based manager or landlord in the US since we do have happy users throughout the States.

Perhaps this discussion would be better suited to an email – please do get in touch with us via and we can have a more in depth conversation.

We’ve been trying to finish the oboarding process with PocketRent since last year. The support provided (e-mail only) has been poor to say the least… The last issue was posted with them over a month ago, and we’re still awaiting resolution…

Has anyone else had such poor Customer Service experiences with them ?
