iPhone winner is…

Hamish Carter, Xero and Mike Chisolm, Acclipse present the iPhone to Jenny Turner from BDO Spicers, Tauranga.

Back in November we began our Future of Accounting roadshow with Acclipse, talking with hundreds of accountants at 18 events across all of New Zealand.

We’ve received some great feedback, and a huge amount of interest in how we are providing to New Zealand accountants a world class, forward-thinking and progressive accounting and practice management solution that makes it easier to efficiently deliver quality service to their business clients.

Of the accountants that provided us with feedback, we put them in a prize draw to win an Apple iPhone.  We feel this is a great productivity tool for accountants, particularly for partners in the firm that want to keep on top of how their practice is performing.  And with our 2nd February release, we further extended Xero Mobile to include Accountants Edition functionality.

So we are pleased to announce that the winner of the Future of Accounting iPhone is Jenny Turner from BDO Spicers Tauranga. Congratulations Jenny – we’re sure you’ll have hours of fun reviewing client accounts from anywhere, anytime!

As you can imagine, Jenny was excited with the news, and wrote in to say:

BDO Spicers Tauranga have been using Acclipse for a number of years, and find it a great tool for ensuring that document storage occurs efficiently, that emails are saved appropriately, and against the correct clients. It is also a fantastic tool for grouping and displaying office information, such as procedures, working papers, and web links to all employees. The content supplied by business fitness assists our office in insuring that we are using the latest processes, and complying with any changes.

BDO Spicers Tauranga have also recently purchased Acclipse Forecast It and Acclipse Benchmark It. We have found the Benchmark data sizes a lot better than previous benchmarking sources. We love the way that the data can be imported from MYOB, and the reports are so flexible. We have found Forecast it to be a crucial tool in the challenging times our clients are currently facing. We have used forecast it for a few clients to help them keep tight reigns on the cashflow.

After attending the recent Acclipse/Xero roadshow, I saw that Xero is the way forward as far as client software goes. 2009/10 is the first year that BDO Spicers have clients on Xero, and already we can see that it is a great financial tool. Information is up to date, with bank feeds coming through daily. The reporting is user friendly, and reported in a useful format. Being that the software is available online, clients do not have the problems of trying to perform software upgrades. Also, it is great to be able to review client files online, and check how things are going.
