Faster, more faster

This month we’re taking a rare departure from our standard practice of releasing software updates every 3 weeks.

We’re focusing on making things in Xero even faster and easier…

  • Faster invoices – there will be a number of enhancements to make entering invoices faster, including the option to create price lists for commonly invoiced items
  • More invoices – we’re adding the ability to bulk approve and print multiple invoices (email in bulk will come later)
  • Faster page loading – we’ve been fine tuning the file size of our pages to make loading even faster

For this release, we’re taking some extra time to make sure you spend less time doing the books.

We’re also doing some heavy duty geek work building a beautiful event driven model over our general ledger in order to provide more functionality in Xero and better integration with other systems. More on that later.

Hi Rod

Can you please give me an indication of when you will have inventory management feature on XERO? It currently has everything I am looking for, minus being able to manage my stock. We are a medium Importer/Distributor, and this software is perfect as I spent a great deal of my time overseas. I look forward to your reply.

Hi Tristan,

Price lists are out in the next version but we haven’t got plans this year for a full on stock system.

That’s for a number of reasons.

  1. We haven’t seen any generic desktop accounting apps do good job of stock. And to use them you have to be very disciplined. Once they are out they are out.
  2. Stock may not suit a web based application. Stock is often best done in a line of business application or point of sale application that integrates with an accounting system like Xero
  3. We need to get job costing done before we do stock

Interested to hear about how you use stock. We may be able to come up with a way to use some other tools with Xero to meet your requirements.

Rod,
I agree with Tristan, it is an outstanding solution and as a small business it is everything I have been looking for minus stock management. I’d be more than happy to spend some time with any of your developers, product managers etc to show them how we manage stock today if that would help in anyway in shaping an inventory application.
