How to apply
Applications for our 2021 grad program open on 2 March 2020 and we’re hiring developers in both our Melbourne and Canberra offices.
We’ll need a copy of your CV, as well as links to any online projects, websites, GitHub/Stack overflow, or anything else you want to show us.
We’ll also need a copy of your academic transcript – we know it won’t be complete until the end of the year, so just send us everything so far.
Instead of a cover letter, in your online application we’ll ask you to tell us a bit about yourself and your thoughts on technology.
You need to be a citizen or permanent resident to apply. We’ll need a copy of your passport and visa for a start date in Feb 2021.
Due to the sheer number of applications we receive, we ask that you only apply for one role in one location. Please take some time to research each opportunity available before submitting your application.

What to expect from the recruitment process
Our recruitment process has several different stages. Each is an opportunity for you to show us a little bit more about what makes you, you.
Once you’ve submitted your online application, you’ll be sent a technical assessment and get an invitation to submit a quick video interview.
After this is done, we’ll get you to a grad day so you can meet the team at the office you're applying for. It’s a lot more fun and a lot more comprehensive than a regular interview, and gives you a chance to decide if we’re the right place for you.

Start at Xero
We know that it can feel like a long time when you’re waiting to hear back from us, but we promise we will get back to you. We have a lot of applications to work through and we make sure we spend time looking at every single one.
We’ll process applications as we receive them, so it’s great if you can get yours in as early as possible. We’ll let everyone know whether they’ve progressed to the next stage or not by 18 August.
What to expect when you start
Your first day at Xero will be memorable. We’ll kick things off with an induction week in Wellington, bringing all our grads together from across New Zealand and Australia. Don’t worry – we’ll cover the cost of flying you out and back!
In between some awesome social events, you’ll learn about the whole of Xero, including what different teams around the business do and how they contribute to our overall strategy.
We’ll make sure you’re all set up with the right tech and equipment and then we’ll get into some technical training, getting you across some of our codebase.
You’ll have time to get to know your manager and your grad team lead and we’ll introduce you to the teams you’ll be working with in your first rotation.
