Xero's interface – halleluiah!
Lisa Casagranda, Director of Pet Angels, can't believe the difference between Xero and other accounting products that are out there — supposedly doing the same job.
Pet Angels is the world's first online matching service between loving pet owners, and people who can care for others' pets through services like 'doggercise', pet feeding, house sitting, and pet holiday retreats.
"It's been amazing, seeing the difference between using Xero and using what we had before."
When Lisa and her business partner started their business a year ago they had no accounting experience. They were advised to buy a desktop accounting package, which was expensive and not user-friendly.
Because they couldn't work the package they had to employ a part-time bookkeeper – of course the product they paid for lived on their bookkeeper's desktop, so they could only access their accounts when they had a scheduled appointment with their bookkeeper.
"It's just so obvious, the interface – the visual representation of where our cashflow is at."

When Lisa received reports from their bookkeeper they were invariably two or three months out of date.
"They didn't actually tell us anything. It was frustrating, our data was everywhere except where it should be," says Lisa. "We wanted a real view - an idea of where we were financially."
"I like to feel in control of my business, and I didn't. We were replicating spreadsheets, and handing them over, uploading manual bookings and using Excel, we had no idea of what was coming in and what was going out. What was our actual cash position? We didn't know."
Now, Lisa says she just uploads an invoice, and there it is.
"I saw Xero and thought halleluiah! An accounting system that's online, which is exactly where it should be. It's just so obvious, the interface - the visual representation of where our cashflow is at. Now we both have an almost real time view of where our business is at, and we can do it ourselves."
