Making Accounting Fun
September 2007
Xero has done the unthinkable for Christine Webb of Three Sixty Media – it has made accounting fun.
Three Sixty Media is an interaction design company that transforms business ideas into visual reality. They predominantly work with export-focused businesses – designing and implementing their web strategy and online brand identity.
Because Christine is a designer, and such a visual person – Xero's visual representation of her financial information was really important to her.
"The graphs and patterns really jump out at me with information," says Christine.
"It's a gratifying experience because it's instant. It has really changed my mindset; I now think accounting is fun – I get valuable information from a funky design."
Christine said she was about to employ a student to do all her accounting – but Xero ended those plans because she now enjoys doing her books so much herself.
"I feel like I have real control over my business as I can always see what's going on. I look everyday at my accounts – not just the customary once a month. Whether I'm at home or the office – I have a quick glance at the books."
"What this means is that I'm always sending out invoices and payments on time – they're never late anymore."
Xero helps Christine to know where she's at. Right now.
"One of the most helpful tools has been the budgeting function/ advice. I was told by a business advisor to use his forecasting template – but it wasn't easy to use or manage. With Xero budgeting I can view my customer breakdowns in the 'revenue per customer' tool.
"This has given me some enlightening and surprising information. It shows me who are my most regular and revenue- generating customers."
