Smarter Xero subscription invoices

We’re bringing a few improvements to our billing over the next couple of months. The latest one will help you save time and find copies of lost invoices.  We’re switching our monthly Xero subscription invoices to online invoices – and leaving PDFs behind.  Online invoices are so much quicker and simpler – you don’t need to manually enter them into Xero. Just import them as a draft bill and speed on to your next task.

We know what a headache it can be to go back and find that lost invoice from a couple of months ago. So, we’ve made it easier to look back over your Xero invoices from the last 24 months in a new “recent bills” link. There’s still options available to save your invoice as a PDF or CSV file.

Are you using online invoicing with your customers?

We’ve just started sending your Xero subscription invoice online. However your customers have been receiving their bills this way for quite some time. And you can see why, they’re so much better!

As the name explains, your customers receive an email and access the invoice online to see how much is owing and to find any outstanding bills. One of the best features is that now your customers can pay you on the spot. You’ll get paid faster, your cash flow stays healthy and your customers have a great experience. Awesome!

At the same time, you can easily keep track of who’s been viewing an invoice in your Xero records and your customers can ask you a question directly from an invoice.

You’ll feel at ease with automated invoice payment reminders. You don’t want to be spending time chasing late payments! Instead, let Xero do the work. And you can tailor these reminder emails if you like, to make sure your company voice is being reflected.

Make it easier for your customers to pay your invoice

Don’t forget to add payment services as an option to your Xero invoices too. Payment services such as PayPal and Stripe make it easier and faster for your customers to pay you.  You can accept payments online with a debit or credit card, or with PayPal, right from the invoice. The easier the payment method is the quicker your customers are likely to pay you. And your customers will thank you for it!

A great feature of using Xero is sending invoices via the Xero network. So why has it taken Xero five years to do this themselves. Better late than never I suppose.

I like the online invoices, but I’d love the ability to opt-in to continue to receive PDF invoices. I forward those to my Receipt Bank account for fully automatic processing. With online invoices I have to click the link and download a PDF manually. Even if I save direct to my Xero file, I still have to code and approve the bill. It takes much longer.

Come on Xero – surely you can enter this one for us automatically as you are doing both sides! And you have a Xero to Xero invoice mechanism already which I use with one client.
