POLi Payments Xero Add-on

POLi is an online payment option which facilitates a Pay Anyone payment from a customer’s bank account to a merchant. It is a great way for businesses using Xero to offer their customers an alternative to credit card payments by allowing them to pay with their internet banking. POLi populates the payment details and informs the merchant as soon as the payment is complete. With the POLi Payments now integrated to Xero, it’s never been easier to setup and use.

Who is it for?

POLi is perfect for those who don’t have a credit card or those who prefer not to use it online. There’s no registration required and customers can use it for free.

How POLi Payments work with Xero

POLi enables your customers to pay with their internet banking. It populates the payment details and updates Xero as soon as the payment is complete through an easy 4 step process:

This is a great service for my Xero clients so that they can get paid by their customers on the spot (i.e.consumer payments). Really looking forward to the day when my business customers can pay me this way.

I would never use nor could I ever advocate the use of Poli or any system like it, such as DPS’s Account2Account, as they all require entering your own personal Online Banking user name and password into their own system to process the payment for you. These systems all have far too many risks for my liking, encourage bad habits among users, and are potentially non-compliant with your banks Online Banking terms and conditions. Any fraud committed while using these systems are potentially on you, with you having no recourse from your bank.

As inherently insecure Credit Cards are with all the details printed on them to do card not present transactions, at least paying with them does not break the Terms and Conditions of using the card. Most credit card fraud should be the banks issue not yours.

Thanks to the Xero team for working with us (POLipay) to make this happen. Momentum is really building for POLi in the New Zealand and Australian market and being associated with a great brand like Xero is awesome. Kiwi’s prefer to use their own money to pay for bills so get on board with POLi and Xero if you want to be paid faster.

POLi is a great service and I have had many enquiries from my clients about this service to improve speed of payment. As far as I understand POLi does not handle security information it just passes the payer to their internet banking website where they enter the information directly on to the banks website therefore the payer is not breaching their terms and conditions with their bank. POLi does not use credit cards it simply passes your transaction details to your internet banking site where you perform a direct credit transaction just like you would do to pay your electricity bill or rates. It is cheaper and more convenient while still maintaining the security of your internet banking system. I am using this service on my Xero invoices and I have had positive feedback from my clients as they find very convenient to enter and pay my invoices.

Very happy POLi user

Don’t use that service it is completely insecure and very risky for your clients!
