America’s Cup sky-box

America's Cup skybox at Xero

To finish off an awesome week, Xero hosted an event for the very first race of sport’s oldest international competition–the America’s Cup. The event pitted challenger New Zealand (Team Emirates) against USA (Team Oracle). New Zealand came out on top and now leads the races 3-1.

Thanks again to all that attended over the course of the week. We had a fantastic time seeing you all and truly feel like we are at the end of the beginning in the US. We couldn’t have gotten this far without all your incredible enthusiasm for what we are doing.

See you all at Xerocon 2014…it’s going to be HUGE!

NZ Taxpayers $37 million funding of the America’s Cup challenge was worth it if just for this. The platform to showcase NZ Technology in the home of Technology and build relationships. The racing is a brilliant format too.
Hopefully the Americans just win the series so Kiwis have another good excuse to travel to San Francisco!

The Xerocon US 2013 Award Winners show why should now expect a 500%+ annual increase in U.S. Xero users. Having Greg LaFollette and Joe Woodard on the Xero Awards Committee was brilliant. Greg is director of product strategy at CPA2Biz, which means director of product strategy for the entire American Institute of CPAs. Joe has long had a top QuickBooks consulting practice and one of the best shows for teaching QuickBooks to large numbers of QuickBooks users and CPAs.

Giving Gary Boomer the MVP award also was very appropriate. I already blogged about his company consulting for 70% of the top 100 CPA firms and how enthusiastic he was about Xero. I also spoke to Doug Sleeter at Xerocon. Doug has long had the biggest QuickBooks show for teaching QuickBooks CPAs, plus many very important QuickBooks publications. However, he also recently had Greg Lam write a FIFTEEN PART COMPARISON of cloud accounting programs. This clearly showed that Xero was far better than QuickBooks Online, though Greg did not say (as I have long done) that I would rather spend an hour at the dentist than an hour using QuickBooks Online.
