Xero wins best application award

We received exciting news today that Jakob Nielsen “the king of usability” released his list of the 10 Best Application UIs of 2008 and Xero is on the list. We love the priceless comments like:

“…[Xero] puts users at ease and projects a sense of playfulness.”

“Come on, making accounting fun? That’s an award-winning design.”

We found out about the announcement from one of our customers who wrote to us saying, “He’s 1000% accurate. We use it. We love it. Who’d seriously have thought that an accounting tool could be so gloriously smooth and even fun to use.”

Getting industry recognition is nice, but hearing it from people who use it everyday is what really matters to us.

Please bring Xero to the US. We’re all using Quickbooks and it’s killing us.

Please make it available to non-english speaking countries, like Portugal :)

ONLY 2 features are needed for that to be a reality:

1) The ability to (zelf-)customize/translate invoice and receipt templates + email messages sent to clients

2) SAF-T (Standard Audit File for Tax) ready (became mandatory in some European countries since Jan.2008, including Portugal) – OCDE Guidance Note: http://www.oecd.org/LongAbstract/0,3425,en_2649_33749_34910278_1_1_1_1,00.html

Thanks

Thanks for the links Alfredo. Useful information. I like the file format, it looks straight forward.

Rod,
David Baxter told me you started http://www.xero.com. Oddly enough, I just started a company called “Xero Footprint” in the US. We are an eco-friendly bottled water. Funny to learn you have the http://www.xero.com url. Good luck!
