Sam Morgan joins Xero board
The following press release was sent on the morning of March 30:
Online accounting provider Xero announced today it has appointed Internet entrepreneur Sam Morgan to the board of directors.
Morgan, who has also invested in Xero, is best known for founding and later selling online auction website Trade Me.
Xero founder and chief executive Rod Drury, who is a member of Trade Me’s advisory board, said he has respect for Morgan’s analytical skills, ability to redefine business models and focus on execution.
“Having Sam on board is another example of our strategy of building a world class team of New Zealanders to take on this global opportunity,” Drury said.
Morgan said he was impressed by Xero’s vision to build a global business from New Zealand. “Xero is as exciting and broad in appeal to small businesses as Trade Me is to the general public,” Morgan said.
Morgan joins Phil Norman, Graham Shaw and Guy Haddleton as independent directors on Xero’s board.
